Brioche Workshop with Samira

In this workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of Brioche Knitting, and learn to make a beautiful and reversible fabric in Simple Brioche.

Techniques for increasing//decreasing and manipulating the colour lines to make intricate motifs and patterns will be covered in a follow up workshop.

Materials:

• 4mm short circular or long double pointed needles (we will need to slide our work back and forth so straight standard knitting needles will not work)

• 2 contrasting colours of Aran weight wool, minimum 25g of each for a practice swatch, or 2x100g to make a lovely reversible short scarf that you can pin to wear on either side. Make sure your colours are contrasting, and that you have one dark (not too dark!) and one light. You can also use variegated yarns for a nice effect, but make sure you never have similar colours on both balls, this can get very confusing!

• Basic Brioche scarf pattern and instructions /course sheets will be provided as part of the workshop

Techniques to be covered:

• What is Brioche Knitting and how it works

• Learn the 2-colour Brioche cast on

• Start knitting in Simple Brioche

• Follow the Simple Brioche knitting pattern

• Learn to cast off in Brioche
